Say hello to Serpentina by Manos Del Uruguay. A truly artisinal yarn - Serpentina is both hand dyed and hand spun. The result is gorgeous colours that run throughout the yarn at random, with a slight thick and thin texture. Each skein is unique, and the colours will not stack or pool. The spinning process creates a delicate colour twirling effect that reminds us of the paper streamers (serpentinas) thrown at the Carnival parties.

Manos Del Uruguay was founded to give Uruguay's rural women jobs, that would mean not just an income, but also an opportunity to personally develop and gain independence, keeping their roots and traditions close to their community and families.
Manos Del Uruguay is a non-profit organization organized into 12 cooperatives located in small villages in Uruguay's countryside. The artisans are all owners of the company and profits are shared and re-invested into the cooperatives. Manos is a member of the World Fair Trade Organization, engaged in raising awareness and campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of international trade.
Their yarns are all hand dyed, in big pots heated by wood kettles, dyed in small batches.
